RENÉE RAUB-AYERS

Renée Raub-Ayers is a self-taught artist working out of central Illinois. Raub-Ayers works primarily in acrylic and ink. Her work is often inspired by mythology, nursery rhythms, and poetry.

Raub-Ayers processes the world through the creative process, explaining, “I use my brushes and paints to cut what I’m seeing and hearing into moments, into stories, into a piece of time my soul needs space to process more fully. My little studio, set in a garden, becomes a place for me to touch all of what I see and hear.” Using art to comprehend the transformative and sometimes tragic moments of life, Raub-Ayers also takes time to enjoy life’s simple moments. She says, “in this moment there is beauty, horror, and hope, and I explore it all with a brush in hand.”
